Facebook ran into trouble late last year with the debut of advertising software that some felt violated users' privacy, known as The Beacon. This year, the popular social networking site is beefing up their privacy policies to set users' minds at ease.

The new features, launched last week, allow users to more strictly monitor who in the Facebook universe has access to their private information, contact details, photo albums, and other elements of their profile.

According to Facebook's blog, these new features also make the lines between personal and professional networking a bit more clear. Users can set up photo albums they may not wish employers or other professional contacts to see, allowing access to only the online friends they choose. According to a ComputerWorld report, the new privacy settings are receiving rave reviews.
