Apple Confirms Launch of 3G iPhone

Apple has officially confirmed that the next version of its coveted iPhone, a 3G model, will launch June 9 in conjunction with the keynote of the Worldwide Developer's Conference in San Francisco. Someone "very close" the launch confirmed the news to popular tech blog Gizmodo earlier today.

Previous speculation had set the release of the new model for nearer to the end of this year in time for holiday shopping. Gizmodo's source also claims that the 3G phone will not be availabled at a fixed price. This means that carriers will be able to offer subsidies or discounts to buyers willing to sign long term contracts, among other things. Though this pricing model will likely only be available in some countries.
