Bloomberg Erroneously Publishes Steve Jobs' Obituary

Not many people get a chance to utter that famous Mark Twain phrase, "reports of my death are greatly exaggerated" and mean it entirely literally. Twain, of course, had heard that his obituary had been published erroneously, and today the same can be said of Apple founder Steve Jobs. Bloomberg News accidentally published an obituary for Jobs, whose health has been the subject of much recent speculation.

As a report from Fortune points out, "Advance work on famous figures' obits is nothing new, and given Jobs' well-publicized brush with pancreatic cancer four years ago and recent concerns about his weight loss, it's understandable that Bloomberg would decide to update its piece on Jobs, although the version that got published contains no details about his health that weren't already in the public record."

While the wire service almost immediately retracted the faulty story, the full obituary was picked up by the popular blog Gawker, and is available here.
