FCC Paves the Way for "GPhone"

HTC has just been awarded FCC approval for the HTC Dream, the first phone to be based on Google's Android operating system. The widely-hype handset often referred to as the "Google Phone" or "Gphone" is now cleared to launch as early as October, and should be available no later than November 10.

The subject of months of speculation, the first Android-ready phone is expected to quickly generate strong sales. The first version will be available through T-Mobile, but other carriers plan to join the party in the coming months.
