Yahoo Opens Up its Social News Site

Buzz, the Yahoo News site that in some ways resembles popular social news site Digg, had previously only accepted submissions from a few hundred publishing partners. Starting last night, however, anyone can submit a story to Buzz. However, it is not quite the same as open voting sites like Digg.

Because stories making it to the top of Buzz will ultimately be added to Yahoo's home page, many are worried that open submissions will make it open season for those looking to game the system to their advantage. To handle this issue, Buzz will still be using "editorial discretion in determining headlines to reduce gaming," according to TechCrunch.
