A new Nielsen report highlights the movers and shakers of the social media world.  While there are a few notable nuggets o information that can be gleaned from the report, bloggers are particularly interested in dramatic gains made by Facebook and Twitter.  Despite their progress, however, MySpace continues to dominate the market. MySpace enjoys more than 61.3 million unique visitors, while second-place Facebook comes in at 38.3 million.

While still relatively very small, Twitter has seen the highest percentage of growth over the last year at 419 percent. Ning and high school-centric Tagged follow with growth close to 400 percent.  Classmates was ranked third in terms of overall size, while LinkedIn also remains a major player thanks to 146 percent growth and 10.8 unique users.
